We spoke with an experienced orthopaedic on Digital media’s role in healthcare. We also discussed about his journey towards becoming a doctor and his job.

About Dr. Harsha Vikram.
Communication between doctors and patients is very important. So is gaining the trust of patients.
Dr. Harsha Vikram is a practising General Physician, Orthopedist and a Joint Replacement Surgeon with over 8 years of experience.
He pursued his MBBS in the year 2008 from Gandhi Medical College, Hyderabad. Then completed his Diploma in Orthopaedics in the year 2013 from Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences (SVIMS), Tirupati. He went on to get a Fellowship in Joint Replacement from Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences Andhra Pradesh in 2017. Dr. Harsha Vikram practices at Kadimi Nursing Home in Chanda Nagar, Hyderabad. He is also a member of Medical Council of India (MCI). He also did a one month course in the U.K.
Dr. Harsha believes that his profession is a noble service and it is a service that he excels in, especially when it comes to knee replacement. Spine surgery is another area where he has a vast experience.
On doctor-patient interaction
Dr. Harsha tells us that now-a-days the doctor patient-interaction has probably become more important than ever before. It is crucial as there is a lot of miscommunication between the doctors and their patients.
POSITIVE aspect of job.
Dr. Harsha believes that getting the due recognition is very important as they spend 15-20 years learning and putting in a lot of hardwork. Furthermore he says that although earning is not difficult, it is quite difficult being recognised in the field.
On Digital media’s role in healthcare.
According to Dr. Harsha, along with the skill of the doctor digital media plays an important role. He provides his own personal experience with the medium; he is tied up with Practo, Google and Just Dial. According to him of the 300-350 patients that he attends to every month, 100-120 come through these digital mediums. Dr.Harsha believes that social media and digital media most certainly has a great future and that they will definitely help in bringing new patients.
Advice to people.
Dr. Harsha advises peole against visiting native bone specialists as he believes they are not familiar with the basics of the treatment.
